Power Outages in West End Alexandria

More than 70 customers are currently without power today in Alexandria, Virginia, according to Dominion Power after winter storm Stella on Tuesday. The biggest outages are in the West End of Alexandria, Virginia in the Beuregard neighborhood, according to the power company.

Dominion has no timetable for outage restoration. If your power is out, be sure and report it at this link.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a vehicle crash that occurred in the early this morning (Friday, June 26), at the intersection of North Beauregard Street and North Armistead Street in Alexandria, Virginia (see below).

At approximately 2:26 a.m., police responded to the intersection for a single vehicle crash. Initial investigation revealed a black truck ran off the road at the intersection then struck a street sign and a parked vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene and was apprehended nearby a short time later. The passenger, a 25 year-old male, was transported to Fairfax Hospital and is in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle, Mr. Richard Ressa, a 27 year-old resident of Falls Church, Virginia, sustained minor injuries. He was charged with DUI and Felony Hit and Run.

The Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

We were the first to tell you about this incident this morning. The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a felonious assault that occurred at the Hilton Hotel in the 5000 block of Seminary Road.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, police responded to a party in a hotel room for the report of a stabbing. A total of three people, two 18-year-old males and one 17-year-old male, were transported to the hospital with severe lacerations. One 18-year-old is in serious condition and the other two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police determined that numerous people at the party were under the age of 21 and consuming alcohol. These individuals were charged with Possession of Alcohol by a Person Under 21. Witnesses state that two suspects were involved in the assault after an argument over liquor. Detectives continue to investigate the incident.

Alexandria Police responded last night to reports of a stabbing at a party at the Mark Center hotel located in the 5000 block of Seminary Road in the Beauregard neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia.


The Beauregard Design Advisory Committee will hold a meeting TONIGHT on Monday, November 17 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, at the Goodwin House Auditorium, 4800 Fillmore Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia.

The meeting topics will include a final review and vote on the Goodwin House addition (DSUP 2014-0012). The agenda and meeting materials will be posted to the Beauregard Design Advisory Committee website prior to the meeting.

The meeting is open to the public.
