Painting of President George Washington Inauguration

Today, on President’s Day, we honor the nation’s first president, George Washington, who was born on February 22, 1732 and all persons who have served as president.

The nation’s largest George Washington Birthday parade, happening from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM TODAY, marches a one-mile route through the streets of Old Town Alexandria. With nearly 3,500 participants, this community parade honors one of the city’s favorite sons.

Speaking of George Washington, here’s a transcript of his first Inaugural address from April 30, 1789.

See you at the parade!
