Fredericksburg based Bath & Body Apothecary will close the South Union Street shop on Saturday

Ladyburg, LLC announced the closing of their Old Town Alexandria, Virginia location on Saturday, 30 January after six months of operations. The company looks to redirect its growth at its highly successful flagship store in Fredericksburg and expand new wholesale and internet based revenue streams in the new year.

Co-Owner Fred Wellman says, “We are truly saddened to announce the closing of the Old Town shop but with the holiday season behind us it became clear that the new flagship store in Fredericksburg offered a substantially increased opportunity to grow the company for the future. Sales at the new location in Fredericksburg at 726 Caroline have been nothing short of spectacular and with the larger production space we are able to build new revenue streams like wholesale partnerships and expanded online sales.”

Given that Cosi has previously announced that they were shutting company-owned stores like the 700 King Street location, news like this was only a matter of time.


Dust off your yoga mats, Alexandria. Lululemon Athletica is coming to town.

The purveyor of high-end yoga pants and other workout gear has signed a lease for 700 King Street, according to Norman Jemal of Douglas Development Corp., which owns the building.

The 8,500-square-foot space is a corner storefront on one of the busiest corners in Old Town Alexandria: The intersection of King Street and Washington Street. It’s currently home to a Cosi, which is planning to close.

Lululemon — they of last year’s transparent-yoga-pants-gate — is expected to open sometime in the summer or fall of this year, Jemal said.
