APD badgeIndustrial Accident Occurred in Warwick Village

This is an update to this post.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating an industrial accident in the 200 block of Gentry Avenue in the Warwick Village neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. On Monday, December 14, 2015, around 12:57 p.m., police responded to a report of a man who fell from a ladder while working. The victim, a 51-year-old man, was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff.

Detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Ryan Clinch at 703.746.6673.

Via WTOP, from the photos I have seen of the accident, it’s amazing the motorcyclist survived the accident which happened at around 4:30 PM Tuesday at the Church of Saint Clement on N. Quaker Lane.

You can see photos from the tragic accident scene at this link, this link, and this link from our friend Wayne Hulehan. WTOP has a photo from INSIDE the church building. See link above.

A pedestrian with a small child was struck this morning while trying to catch a bus in Alexandria, Virginia in the King Street and Callahan Drive intersection (see above…). Thankfully, everyone seems okay. Posting more about King Street and Callahan Drive later today.

If you are having traffic issues in the Van Dorn Street and/or Franconia Road corridor – here’s why. Sounds like you should avoid the area altogether. Take Telegraph Road to get to Kingstowne and take the Beltway to get to Springfield and other areas.

We’ll update below when more is available.

UPDATE 8:10 PM: All lanes are now OPEN.

APD badgeThe Alexandria Police Department is investigating an industrial accident in the 1800 block of Main Line Boulevard.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. a worker fell from an unknown height at a construction site. The victim, a 20-year-old man, initially appeared to be suffering a minor head injury, and was transported to a hospital by friends. His injury was evaluated by medical staff and he is now listed in critical condition.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Daniel Gordon at 703.746.6685.

By my count, this is the second such accident this week involving a pedestrian. Avoid the South Columbus Street and Gibbon Street area for the time being.
