Events to do TODAY in the Alexandria, Virginia area
Your plans for today (Tuesday, May 31, 2016) in Alexandria, Virginia include these events:
On Tuesday, May 24, the Alexandria Library’s Beatley Central Library, located at 5005 Duke Street in Alexandria, Virginia, welcomed Brenda Sprague, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Passport Services at the Department of State. During her visit, Sprague took a walk-through of the facility and met with Alexandria Library staff along with other key City officials to discuss the program, observe passport processing and speak with some of the Library’s agents and customers.
The Alexandria Library has helped 4,073 community members apply for a U.S. passport as of April 30, 2016. The passport program brings new business to the larger Alexandria community through customer use of local passport photo and money order vendors, and other neighboring businesses (restaurants, grocery stores, etc.). In addition to its formal passport acceptance hours, the Library provides information and assistance over the phone and in person during its operating hours to those interested in applying for or renewing a U.S. passport.
