IACP will facilitate two community meetings and an online survey to gather feedback on perceived challenges, qualities and top priorities for the new chief.  The initial public input opportunities are as follows:

  • Community Meeting 1: Tuesday, July 26, 7 – 9 p.m., Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St.
  • Community Meeting 2: Wednesday, July 27, 7 – 9 p.m., Charles E Beatley Jr. Central Library, 5005 Duke St;
  •  The online survey is available through July 29.

In June, Police Chief Earl L. Cook announced his retirement after more than 37 years of service to the City of Alexandria, effective October 1. The City will recruit Cook’s successor from among the talented law enforcement leadership within the Alexandria Police Department and across the nation.
