Officers responded to a bank robbery at the United Bank located at 7901 Richmond Highway on Tuesday, August 9 at around 2:19 p.m. A man entered the bank, displayed a handgun and demanded money. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash and there were no injuries. The suspect was described as black, 35 to 40 years old, wearing a red hat, a blue shirt and dark blue pants.

Bank Robbery on the Avenue in Del Ray

The Alexandria Police Department has made an arrest in a robbery that occurred at the SunTrust Bank located at 2809 Mount Vernon Avenue on May 27, 2016.

On Friday, May 27, at 12:15 p.m., a man entered the bank and passed the teller a note. He demanded money, the teller complied and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

Kegni Omar Granados, 27, of Alexandria, was arrested on June 16, 2016, and charged with Robbery. He is being held without bond.

Another Bank Robbery on the Avenue in Del Ray

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a bank robbery in the 2800 block of Mt Vernon Avenue in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia.

The suspect implied a weapon and no one was injured.

Sources now confirm the bank robbery suspect in this case is described as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern male, 5′ 11″, 185 pounds, with dark hair and receding hair line.  He was wearing a dark green t-shirt, long jean shorts and mirrored sunglasses.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a bank robbery in the 2800 block of Mt Vernon Avenue in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia.

The suspect implied a weapon and no one was injured. Expect police activity in area.

This is the same bank that was robbed last month. The suspect was caught in that case.

Alexandria Police Make Arrest in Bank Robbery Series

This is an update to this post. The Alexandria Police Department has made an arrest in a series of bank robberies that occurred in Alexandria during April of this year.

Budder Khan, 26, of Arlington, was arrested on May 12, 2016, for two counts of Robbery.

Police charged Khan with the robbery of the following banks:

  • April 18, 2016-Sun Trust at 2809 Mount Vernon Avenue
  • April 28, 2016-Wells Fargo Bank at 1711 Fern Street

The Alexandria Police Department thanks the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Arlington County police Department for their assistance in arresting the suspect.

The ‘Ball Cap Bandit’ has struck again in the Northern Virginia Area. The suspect has been dubbed as such by authorities as he wear sports teams caps when committing bank robberies in our area.

After striking in multiple Alexandria, Virginia locations, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at approximately 3:48 p.m., the ‘Ball Cap Bandit’ robbed the Wells Fargo Bank located at 1000 West Broad Street in Falls Church, Virginia. Like the previous robberies, the subject entered the bank, approached the victim teller, and passed a note demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he fled the bank on foot.

This week’s robbery comes after the suspect struck in the Fairlington neighborhood of Alexandria and in Del Ray.
