The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a homicide. Police responded to Beverley Park at the intersection of N. Overlook Drive and S. Overlook Drive on Monday, November 9, 2015, at approximately 8:00 AM for an unresponsive male.

An adult male was found deceased in the park suffering from upper body trauma. Sources say victim’s throat was slashed.

The victim has been identified as a white Hispanic male, 24, of Alexandria. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family members. The investigation is ongoing.

The Alexandria Police Department asks that anyone with information about this investigation contact Sergeant Sean Casey at 703.746.6853.

This is the third homicide in Alexandria in 2015.

Alexandria Police are addressing the North Ridge Citizens Association meeting tonight at Beverly Hills Community United Methodist Church, located at 3512 Old Dominion Boulevard in Alexandria, Virginia.

Preliminary investigation by Alexandria Police Department (APD) detectives from this morning’s incident where the body of a man was found under a slide Monday morning in Alexandria, Virginia in Beverley Park has caused APD to update the death scene at Beverley Park to a homicide.

This is the third homicide in Alexandria, Virginia this year.

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities invites the public to attend an Open House for the planned Beverley Park Renovation on Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to noon and on Wednesday, November 19 from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the park site, 620 N. Overlook Drive. In the event of inclement weather, the Open House is cancelled. Light refreshments will be available.

Attendees will have an opportunity to view schematic plans of the park and playground renovation and to provide feedback to City staff. To view plans in advance of the Open House, visit http://alexandriava.gov/27060#Beverley.

This project is funded by the FY 2014 Capital Improvement Program for Park and Playground Renovations. The program replaces deteriorating play equipment and provides small-scale enhancements in playgrounds and parks throughout the City.

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the initial process for the park and playground renovation, including slope stabilization and to provide feedback about the park to City staff. Water and light refreshments will be available.

If you are unable to visit the park at these times, you may also provide feedback by completing the online Beverly Park Survey. Paper copies of this survey are also available at the park.
