DRCA September Membership meeting guest – Mayor Allison Silberberg

Alexandria Mayor Allison Silberberg will be the guest at the September membership meeting of the Del Ray Citizens Association (DRCA). She will talk about her first nine months in office, opportunities facing the City Council and hear your concerns about the city and Del Ray in particular.

The meeting will also feature the monthly crime report by Alexandria Police Captain Dennis Andreas; a “business minute” to introduce the owners of Live Oak restaurant at the corner of Monroe and Commonwealth Aves.; a vote to approve the association’s operating budget for fiscal 2016-2017 and consideration and vote on the proposed expansion of the Happy Tart at 2307A Mt. Vernon Ave.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 14 at the Reingold Building, located at 433 East Monroe Ave. in Alexandria, Virginia from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The first 30 minutes will feature refreshments and a chance to meet neighbors. The program will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.

North Potomac Yard Advisory Group Seeks Public Input on Plan Update

The North Potomac Yard Small Area Plan Update Advisory Group will hold its sixth meeting on Monday, August 29 at 7 p.m. in the community room at the Station at Potomac Yard, located at 650 Maskell Street in Alexandria, Virginia. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss framework elements and open space.

All meetings of the Advisory Group are open to the public and community members are encouraged to attend and participate.  Project materials and background information can be found on the project website.

Community Meeting this week on Zika

Are you concerned about Zika, West Nile Virus or other mosquito borne diseases? Come learn what the City is doing and what you can do to help “Fight the Bite!”

Throughout the summer, the Health Department is hosting community information meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at various locations in Alexandria. The next meeting will be this Wednesday, August 17, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at William Ramsay Rec Center, located at 5650 Sanger Ave in Alexandria, Virginia.

Community Meeting with Police after man shot and killed in the neighborhood

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) will be holding a community meeting at Charles Houston Recreation Center on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 6:30 PM. APD will be discussing the most recent homicide in the neighborhood and they look to further the communication between the police department and the community.
