Alexandria Food & Wine FestivalThe 2nd Annual Food & Wine Festival was held recently in our neighborhood at John Carlyle Square Park. S and B Events did an outstanding job organizing the event. Teresa Tobat from The Daily Meal was there and provided this review.

The only thing I would add is what about being able to purchase tickets before hand on the website? What are your thoughts on the Festival? Did you attend?

These were among incidents reported by the Alexandria Police Department and published in the weekly Washington Post Alexandria/Arlington Extra. For more information, call 703-838-4636.

REMINDER: You can see a list of latest crimes that have been reported in or near our neighborhood 24/7 at this link.

It is quite a historic day in Virginia. Today is the day that Virginia declared its independence from Great Britain in 1776. Today is also the anniversary of the 2012 derecho storm that knocked out power to quite a few people in Alexandria.

Nice article over at NBC Washington on the one year anniversary of the Derecho and has gathered stories from viewers on how they survived. The story on the 50 foot tree will make you gasp. The Washington Post has a great explanation for why storms like that are called a ‘derecho’.

Trademark Drink & Eat, located inside the Westin Alexandria in our Carlyle neighborhood, was on hand at the 2nd Annual Alexandria Food & Wine Festival. Did you try their bacon candy? It was yummy. What was your favorite tent? Discuss below.

You can see more photos from the festival at this link.
