The Motley Fool to invest $5 million to upgrade facility and expand recruitment efforts

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that The Motley Fool, a multimedia financial-services company, will invest $5 million to upgrade its facility and expand recruitment efforts in the City of Alexandria. Virginia successfully competed against Washington, D.C., for the project, which will retain 282 jobs and create 60 new jobs.

“The Motley Fool has been at the forefront of innovative financial solutions for more than 20 years, and I congratulate this global financial company on its expansion in the City of Alexandria,” said Governor McAuliffe. “It is critical that we provide world-class business resources and workforce training in order to attract and retain high-quality companies in the Commonwealth. We will work with businesses to ensure that they have the tools to grow and prosper here in the Commonwealth as we continue to build a new Virginia economy.”  (more…)

Posting this because Whole Foods has a store in our Carlyle/Eisenhower East community and we always try and look for articles on companies that have locations in our community. The Motley Fool (also in our Carlyle/Eisenhower East community) notes that Whole Foods is growing larger than initially anticipated. See the link in the title of this post.

On Friday, August 24, executives and guests of The Motley Fool—a leading online community of retail investors at www.fool.com (located in our Carlyle Community btw/…) visited the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to celebrate the launch of an investor empowerment campaign designed to offer a unique solution to the current crisis of confidence among individual investors, culminating September 25th with “Worldwide Invest Better Day.”

David and Tom Gardner, co-founders of The Motley Fool, rang the NYSE Opening Bell. The Gardners were joined by Motley Fool CIO Andy Cross and members of the Motley Fool community.

“Worldwide Invest Better Day” will feature investor education, awareness building and empowering conversation around all topics affecting individual investors. Learn more about getting involved at www.InvestBetterDay.com.
