Amtrak is calling all kids, young and old, to join in the festivities at Union station in Washington, D.C. There will be countless ways to rediscover the kid in you.

From 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., train lovers will enjoy free live entertainment, interactive and educational exhibits, kids’ activities and elaborate model train displays, plus tours of Amtrak equipment, freight and commuter trains, and notable private railroad cars. Each event will also feature exclusive exhibits highlighting contributions made to the railway throughout history, such as the B&O Railroad and Civil War exhibit in Washington, D.C.

National Train Day 2014

Today is National Train Day!

Locally-owned trains, toys, and hobby shop Whistle Stop Hobbies, located at 130 South Royal Street in Old Town, is calling all kids, young and old, to join in the weekend festivities at their store as they celebrate National Train Day.

Train lovers will enjoy free kids activities, model train displays, special one-time promotions on popular train toys (Thomas the Train, Lionel),  conductor visor giveaways, and drawings to win deluxe prizes such as a Thomas the Train Party or a LEGO Party Package.

From 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., train lovers will enjoy free live entertainment, interactive and educational exhibits, kids’ activities and elaborate model train displays, plus tours of Amtrak equipment, freight and commuter trains, and notable private railroad cars. Each event will also feature exclusive exhibits highlighting contributions made to the railway throughout history, such as the B&O Railroad and Civil War exhibit in Washington, D.C.

Amtrak will also start its year-long celebration of 40 years as America’s RailroadSM with a special anniversary “exhibit train” debuting at the event before traveling across the country. There will be countless ways to rediscover the kid in you.
