Waffle Shop

According to planning documents filed this week with the City, the owner of the Waffle (Wafle) Shop in the Arlandria neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia wants to have outdoor seating along Mt. Vernon Avenue. An outdoor area with seating for 20 is being proposed. No other changes to the business are requested.

APD BadgeThe Alexandria Police Department is investigating a felonious assault in the 1200 block of N. Quaker Lane (see below) this evening. The victim was transported to hospital. Expect Police activity in area.

‘Felonious Assault’ is defined as an assault that involved (A) a dangerous weapon with intent to cause bodily injury (i.e., not merely to frighten) with that weapon; (B) serious bodily injury; or (C) an intent to commit another felony.

Hospital has confirmed the felonious assault victim was shot once, a non-life-threatening injury to the upper body.

Oakville Triangle/Route 1 Corridor Planning Process Update

The next meeting of the Oakville Triangle/Route 1 Corridor Advisory Group will be held on Monday, June 1st, at Charles Houston Recreation Center, located at 901 Wythe Street in Alexandria, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

The meeting will address community benefits and the retail market analysis. The agenda and any relevant materials will be posted at this link prior to June 1st. Advisory Group meetings are open to the public and members of the community are encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings.

As of earlier this afternoon, Metrobus routes 28A, 29K, 29N and the REX will not use the regular bus bay locations at the King Street Metrorail Station due to a water main break. Crews are on location identifying the cause of the water main break.

This includes DASH Buses as well…


Passengers should board/exit buses at the Park & Ride lot in front of the station and bus bay access road.

All 34 metered parking spaces are currently unavailable for passenger use to aid bus movements at the station.
