Suspects Use Knife in Robbery near N. Pickett Street

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a robbery at the intersection of N. Pickett Street and Holmes Run Parkway in Alexandria, Virginia this afternoon (see map below). Four suspects stole items from the victim after one suspect brandished a knife.

According to police, there were no injuries. Expect police activity in the area.

Fairfax County Police Detectives were alerted to a suspicious event that involved a teenage girl walking to a school activity in the West Springfield area of Fairfax County. A 15-year-old Fairfax-area girl was walking in the 5000 block of Sideburn Road, in Fairfax, just before 5 p.m. to sports practice when a 1997 Toyota Corolla pulled up next to her. When she looked over, the driver asked if she needed a ride. The girl declined and the man asked again. She refused again and continued walking. The driver never exited his car and eventually drove off. She reported the incident to school security as soon as she arrived there.

Detectives followed up on the reported incident, were able to identify the driver, 27, of the Clifton-area, and talk to him. Their investigation confirmed that no crime occurred, but the entire incident was documented.   (more…)

The Alexandria Police Department has been investigating robberies of cell phones that occurred recently in Alexandria. The following suspects have been arrested and charged with Robbery:

  • A 16-year-old male City resident was charged with the following robbery:
    • December 8, 2016: 4:20 p.m.-900 block of Wythe Street (set up with LetGo app)
  • A 17-year-old male City resident was charged with the following robberies:
    • December 8, 2016: 4:20 p.m.-900 block of Wythe Street (set up with LetGo app)
    • December 27, 2016: 8:30 p.m.-900 block of N. Henry Street (victim knew suspect)
  • Keith West, 19, City resident, was charged with the following robbery:
    • January 1, 2017: 8:30 p.m.-1200 block of Madison Street (set up with Offer Up app)

Armed Woman Surrenders Peacefully After Domestic Dispute

An armed woman was taken into custody late Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of Cameron Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

Alexandria Police officers responded to a domestic dispute between an armed woman and man. They convinced the woman to come out of her residence and into police custody shortly after arriving on scene.

No injuries were reported by police in the incident.

Robbery Investigation at Van Dorn Gas Station

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the commercial robbery of gas station in the 500 block of S. Van Dorn Street this morning in the Van Dorn neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia.

A suspect implied weapon and assaulted the cashier before fleeing with money.

No injuries were reported in this incident. Expect police activity in the area this morning.
