Tone Up and Check In in Old Town North, October 10

On Saturday, October 10, the City of Alexandria is holding a FREE event for the Old Town North community in Montgomery Park, located at 901 N. Royal Street in Alexandria, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The Tone Up and Check In event is a fun-filled day for adults, children and pet dogs that will include:

  • Free Zumba, Boot Camp, Yoga, and Kids’ Workouts offered throughout the event by local Old Town North health and fitness establishments
  • Free bicycle safety checks in the morning
  • Noontime entertainment by Metro Stage artists
  • Information provided by the City throughout the day about the upcoming Old Town North Small Area Plan process and ways the community can participate
  • Sales of fresh food–juice, Danish, produce, and an assortment of nuts—by invited vendors
  • The Finale: a pre-Halloween Doggie Costume Parade! Bring Fido for a festive Halloween dress rehearsal

This is the first of several City community outreach events for the Old Town North Small Area Plan process, which is anticipated to extend from October 2015 to January 2017.

Alexandria, Virginia residents are invited to review and comment on the chapters and recommendations of the Draft Eisenhower West Small Area Plan by visiting AlexEngage, the City’s online engagement forum.

Comments received by 5:00 PM Monday, October 12th will inform the final draft plan to be presented at the Thursday, November 5th Planning Commission Public Hearing.

The fifth Community Meeting of the Eisenhower West Small Area Plan will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Beatley Central Library located at 5005 Duke Street in Alexandria, Virginia. The meeting will be preceded by an open house beginning at 6:30 PM.

The meeting will feature an activity on a refined land use concept for the plan area. Members of the community are encouraged to attend and participate.

Community Meeting #4 and Concept Land Use Options Workshop

The fourth Community Meeting of the Eisenhower West Small Area Plan will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 7:00 PM at Beatley Central Library located at 5005 Duke Street. The meeting will be preceded by an open house beginning at 6:30 PM.

The meeting will feature an activity on concept land uses for the plan area. Members of the community are encouraged to attend and participate.

The Steering Committee will hold its eighth meeting TONIGHT (Monday, November 24th, 2014) from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Great Room of the Cameron Station Clubhouse located at 200 Cameron Station Boulevard. Steering Committee meetings are open to the public and members of the community are encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings, as well as the larger community meetings that are being held to solicit input on developing the Eisenhower West Small Area Plan. Meetings will take place over the course of the approximately 18-month planning process, anticipated for adoption in 2015.

The 2nd Community Meeting of the Eisenhower West Small Area Plan will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Charles E. Beatley Central Library, 5005 Duke Street. The meeting will be preceded by an open house beginning at 6:30 PM for the public to view background material presented at previous meetings.

At the meeting, members of the community will actively participate in a planning workshop to define the desired future for the Eisenhower West Area. The community will be establishing the vision for what the area should become in the next 25 years. Therefore, members of the community are strongly encouraged to attend and participate.
