Massive Sports Authority Going Out of Business Sale Starts
This is an update to this post. Sporting goods chain Sports Authority earlier this year filed for bankruptcy, and put out a list of stores that it said would be closing as a result.
Now, Sports Authority is shutting down all of its 463 locations nationwide, including its Alexandria, Virginia location at Potomac Yard Shopping Center, as part of a liquidation process expected to take several months.
The retailer ended its equipment service plans and warranties Monday, according to an email from CEO Michael Foss to customers. Foss also announced the closing sale and said the sale would run through the end of August 2016.
The company’s initial plan was to restructure its debt and close 140 stores, which would have spared the Alexandria, Virginia location.
If you’ve been waiting for that next big sale to pick up outdoor sporting goods, you are in luck. At the going out of business sale at Sports Authority, right now, you can get up to 30% off the list price.
