Suspects have been apprehended following a stabbing and a robbery which occurred overnight in the Lincolnia neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia.

Metro Transit Police charge suspect in fatal stabbing outside Addison Road Station


Metro Transit Police have charged Ali Anthony JOVAN, 36, of Fairfax, Va., with first degree murder, second degree murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with intent to injure in connection with a fatal stabbing outside Addison Road Metrorail Station yesterday evening.

At about 7:18 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, Metro Transit Police and Prince George’s Police officers who were present at Addison Road Station responded to the scene of a stabbing that had just occurred in the bus bay area outside the station. Witnesses pointed out the suspect to the officers, who gave chase and were able to apprehend the suspect as he attempted to flee.

The victim suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced at the scene.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect and victim became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to physical and resulted in the suspect stabbing the victim in the chest area with a “switch blade style” knife. The weapon was recovered at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Vontrel Laarius McDaniel, 35, of Northeast Washington, DC.

City of Alexandria Police Department - bank robbery

The victim from last night’s stabbing has been identified as Shakeel Baldon, 43, of Alexandria, Virginia. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Last night, on Thursday, May 5, at approximately 9:36 p.m., officers responded to the area for an injured person. The adult male victim was located by police suffering from upper body trauma. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died. The investigation is ongoing.

This is second homicide in Alexandria in 2016.

Incident Occurred on S. 28th Street

On Tuesday, January 20, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the 3200 block of South 28th Street for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located the injured person, a 47 year-old male. He was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. His condition was later upgraded and he is expected to survive.

A thorough investigation determined that this incident was the result of a domestic dispute.

APD badgeThe Alexandria Police Department has arrested Horace White, 52, of Washington, D.C., in connection to the Malicious Wounding that occurred in the 400 block of Jackson Place on January 9. White is charged with two counts of Abduction, two counts of Robbery, Burglary, Malicious Wounding, and Carjacking.

Around 4 p.m., police responded to a residence for the report of a stabbing. An elderly couple had entered their home and interrupted a burglary. The victim, an 84-year-old man, was stabbed by the suspect. The victim was transported to the hospital.

In cooperation with the Metro Transit Police Department, detectives conducted a thorough investigation and arrested White earlier this evening.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a stabbing in the West End of Alexandria, Virginia this morning.

Metro confirmed a woman was stabbed near the Huntington Metro station on Monday morning.

The incident took place at 10:50 a.m.  According to Metro, the stabbing happened during a robbery attempt.

The victim, a woman, was treated for non-lethal injuries to her hand.  Police apprehended two men near the scene.  However, the victim declined to identify her attackers, and the two were released.
