Boil water

This is an update to this post. As we told you first, Virginia American Water had issued a boil water advisory for the Landmark and Van Dorn neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia surrounding last week ‘s massive water main break.

Now, the advisory has been lifted on Sunday morning.


Shots Fired heard near Landmark area of Alexandria, Virginia

Heard reports from several people overnight that there were gun shots heard in the area of Yoakum Parkway and Stevenson Avenue (see below) in the Landmark neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia around midnight last night.

Police say they could not find any evidence of a shooting in the area.

Santos Aguilar was last seen Monday afternoon

AGUILARThe Alexandria Police Department is asking for your assistance in locating Mr. Santos Aguilar. He was last seen in the 5900 block of Stevenson Ave around 3:00 PM yesterday (Monday August 17, 2015).

Mr. Aguilar is a 64-year-old white male, 5’6” with a thin build (click on the image at right for a larger view). He was last seen wearing a red plaid shirt, green pajama pants and brown work boots. He has ongoing medical issues which require treatment on a regular basis.

Alexandria Crosswalk

Construction continues this summer

As part of the City of Alexandria’s Complete Streets and Street Resurfacing programs, safety improvements will be made at several locations in Alexandria this summer.

The improvements include crosswalk enhancements, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, and adjustments to parking restrictions to provide additional parking along Stevenson Avenue and its intersection with Yoakum Parkway. New crosswalks, accessibility improvements, and bike lanes will be installed on North Hampton Drive between King Street and Braddock Road, and additional pedestrian and bicycle improvements will be installed on Monroe Avenue between Stonewall Road and Leslie Avenue.

During project construction, lane closures, sidewalk closures and temporary parking restrictions may occur.

Early this morning, the Alexandria Police Department investigated a report of “shots fired”, one shot heard, in the 6200 block of Stevenson Avenue in the Landmark neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia (see below). No injuries to any victim located.
