Cellular Service to be restored during an upcoming weekend
Metro and the four major wireless providers are working to restore cellular service to four downtown Washington, D.C. stations. The cause of the outage has been determined to be damage to a communication cable that provides wireless signal to the affected stations:
- Mount Vernon Square
- Gallery Place
- Judiciary Square
- Union Station
Approximately 2,500 feet of cable will need to be replaced in order to restore service. The work will require track and tunnel access, and thus will need to be scheduled for an upcoming weekend.
Metro understands wireless service is a priority for customers, and are working with the wireless providers to have this cable repaired as quickly as possible.
