MetroAccess Service to Resume After Winter Storm Stella

MetroAccess paratransit service for customers with disabilities will resume service on Wednesday morning in the Washington, D.C. area after winter storm Stella. The MetroAccess reservations call center has reopened as of noon today (Tuesday) to assist customers with scheduling trips for Wednesday and future dates.

Due to the nature of MetroAccess service, where vehicles often travel on secondary or tertiary streets, customers may experience lengthier trip times due to road conditions. In some cases, “door-to-door” service may be unavailable where driveways or sidewalks have not been cleared of snow and ice. In such cases, the driver will provide “curb-to-curb service” instead.

Customers with subscription trips reserved for Wednesday who would prefer not to travel are encouraged to call the MetroAccess call center to cancel as soon as possible.

UPDATE: Vox has corrected their post to note that 1912 was the longest Winter Solstice night in Earth’s history. Still an interesting post nonetheless.

An interesting post on Vox on tonight’s Winter Solstice. Click this link to read why tonight will be the longest night in the Earth’s history ever. Well worth a couple of minutes to read.

For our Sunday Brunch links, we scanned the local papers, blogs, and news websites to find the most interesting stories in the you might have missed.

There’s no better way to celebrate the Winter Solstice than with a performance of ‘The Christmas Revels.’ It’s run is finished for this year but, don’t miss it next year!

As VOA’s Julie Taboh reports in the video above, as the days grow darker across the Northern Hemisphere, people look for ways to brighten the season. For the past 30 years, the Washington-based Christmas Revels has offered festive holiday performances for all ages. For the performers and many audience members, the event has become an important part of their holiday tradition.
