Fox 5 DC in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia

Fox 5 DC’s Zip Trip Team Broadcasts LIVE from Del Ray

On Friday, June 3, FOX 5 DC’s “Good Day DC” hosts Kevin McCarthy, Maureen Umeh and Meteorologist Tucker Barnes were broadcasting LIVE in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia.

At 7:00 AM Kevin and Maureen greeted the audience with the Alexandria Day School Band as Tucker Barnes reported from the Historic Del Ray Sign (outside Cheesetique).

At 8:00 AM, the hosts participated in an outdoor exercise class. At 8:30, Alexandria Mayor Allison Silberberg joined the group before the Irish Breakfast Band took the stage to perform for the audience. While they played, Happy Tart Gluten-Free Bakery taught Kevin and Maureen how to decorate cakes.

Tucker and Kevin then went to Velocity Bikes to interview its co-owner at 9:50, while Tucker and Maureen introduced Hometown Hero, Community Activist Pat Miller and local folk band Allison and Kevin Pace took to the stage. Then, outside of the Pork Barrel Restaurant, Kevin learned how to make a huge bubble, as part of “DIY Del Ray.”

There were also segments with Del Ray’s Mind the Mat and the show paid tribute to the Alexandria Fire Department which was represented by local station 203.

Lastly, the anchors received a “Taste of Del Ray” sampling from Stomping Ground Restaurant, Pork Barrel BBQ, and the soon-to-open Junction Bakery & Bistro.

Fox5 LogoJoin FOX 5 Reporters Wisdom Martin and Holly Morris as they kick-off Alexandria’s Live Music Week at the Alexandria Marina.

Mayor William Euille, Director of the Capitol Post Emily McMahon, and Visit Alexandria’s Communications Director Claire Mouldeoux will join Holly and Wisdom to share all that Alexandria has to offer between 8-11 AM. Hometown Hero Brooke Sydnor Curran and Local Musicians Scott Fallon and Mike Gaffney will also join the anchors during the morning.

Tucker Barnes will report live from one of the Potomac Riverboats at 8:45 AM before heading to the Torpedo Factory at 9:45 AM.

At 10:30 AM the cast will get a “Taste of Alexandria”, sampling local foods from restaurants such as Blackwall Hitch, Carluccio’s, and Bon Vivant Cafe + Farm Market, before checking out the various boutiques that are part of the “Shop Small” Campaign at 10:45 AM.

Throughout the day there will be various activities for viewers including a Mazda contest and performers from Live Music Week.
